The Mitochondria, often reffered to as the powerhouse of the cell, is a membrane bound organelle found in all eucharotic cells. Its function is to generate energy for the cell, but it has other functions, which include storing calcium, overseeing cell growth and death and is even what produces our body heat. Mitochondria are structured like the shape of a pill and are around 0.5-10 μm (micrometers). Mitochondria are found in only eucharotic cells.
